I love Pointillism. It doesn't matter if you're blind, it's blurry to everyone! In particular, in this piece done by Seurat, the figures are slightly flat looking. The contrast of colors on the actual human figure isn't very apparent compared to the ground shadows contrast. Even with the high contrast ground shadow, the over tone of the piece would be subtle because of the figure subtlety in variation of color. The piece would loose a lot of focus and attention if the figure wern't predominantly red against the green ground. Although I admire the huge variation in color on the upclose scale, I feel that with his actual figure style and composition, it was almost POINTless (haha) because there is no attention the the fact that it's all color blocks. I feel that this painting exhibits his style instead of technique.
